About Us

Kisauni Vocational Training Centre was established in 1968 at Majengo. It has grown through many phases and in 1990, Kisauni Youth Polytechnic was amongst the 64 Youth Polytechnics all over Kenya upgraded to offer Artisan courses. Our Institution offers exciting programs that will favor all kind of students who have reached different levels of education. From primary school leavers to secondary school as well. Currently, we offer Kenya National Examinations Council’s (KNEC), Craft, Artisan Courses and NITA (National Industrial Training Authority).

The institution has also introduced business courses in order to provide wider career choice to the community. It has helped many a thousand students in finding a dignified way of living by getting a job or through self-employment. Kisauni Vocational Training Centre has survived mainly on support from the community, Government grants and help from local organizations.

In 2021, the Go Blue project came into partnership with Kisauni VTC and one of its specific objectives is to strengthen inclusive and sustainable blue economy value chains through skills development and matching employment by providing youth and women with market relevant skills in selected blue economy value chains to improve their economic and employment opportunities. In this context, one focus of the go blue project is to train youths from Kenyan Coastal Counties and capacitate them with the necessary vocational skills of the selected occupations in blue economy sectors through conducting modularized CBET training that is demand-driven and labor market-oriented.

The institution has plans to expand within the coastal region and other parts of Kenya.

Despite offering education the community has benefitted from the institution in so many ways:

  1. Using the school facilities to organize youth meetings and other capacity building trainings.
  2. The institution provides clean and purified drinking water to the community, using the latest technology on reverse osmosis for purification.
  3. In enhancing the environment, the institution gave more than 50,000 seedlings to the community.
  4. The institution provides bursary to orphans and less fortunate to pursue studies in the school.

Kisauni polytechnic has been in existence for over 50 years and has gained reputation in the region for producing highly trained and aggressive workforce who have excelled well in employment. The school has maintained a steady growth since it beginning and the curriculum has been reviewed periodically so as to incorporate new learning techniques.
