Masonry ( Building And Construction) Course

It’s a course dealing with building and construction. A Trainee gets lifetime skills in building any type of construction relating to building. Below are different course levels under this Department. Any trainee who passes the examinations gets employment easily.

1. CRAFT CERTIFICATE IN BUILDING TECHNOLOGY

The course is intended to provide students with technical skills required by industry. A graduate at craft certificate level will be expected to develop construction skills such as: - Masonry, Plumbing, Carpentry, Welding and architectural skills by using CAD (Computer Aided Design). This qualification provides the graduates with an avenue for progression into Diploma in Building and Civil Engineering.

QUALIFICATIONS

For someone to pursue this course must have attained a mean grade of D (PLAIN) and above in high school level.

2. MASONRY ARTISAN COURSE

This course is tested and examined by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC). A trainee who undergoes this course and attain its certificate can further his/her skills to craft level, Diploma & Degree levels in masonry which will end up to be Building and construction technology. The course takes two years and the trainees are also trained Business Skills, Technical Drawing, Science, Mathematics and Entrepreneurship which is referred as support subject.

QUALIFICATIONS

Anyone who has a KCSE or KCPE certificate can join this course and the KNEC certificates are used in registration for the Artisan final exam.

3. MASONRY III

This is a course that takes one year. At the end of the year; a trainee is able to do any building and construction job. This course is examined by the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) and the exam it’s done at the end of the year i.e. November /December series. For anyone who has KCSE, KCPE and school dropouts who are able to read and write or unable to read and write can do this course.

4. MASONRY II AND I

For those eager to further their studies and their career in Masonry can join these courses. Anyone who possesses a Grade III certificate with a pass can join Grade II and those who passed Grade II can join Grade I. Both of these courses i.e Grade II and I are done in six months and they can be trained in both Full time and Part time basis. Mostly the part time classes are held in the evenings. Both are examined by the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA). And these course are done on July /August Exam series.
